The basic idea behind the concept of 'new literacies' refers to the changing and growing digital and technological environment that allows the development of new literacies to evolve. Examples of these literacies include Fliker, tweeting and facebook. Knobel and Lankshear (2006) have broken this concept down into two basic components, 'technical stuff' and 'ethos stuff' basic components.
